The match began with Shrivalli Bhamidipaty taking on Tamara Zidansek, a semi-finalist at the 2021 French Open. Bhamidipaty fought hard but fell to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 defeat in two hours and 19 minutes. Zidansek's early dominance and Bhamidipaty's struggles to find her range proved decisive.
