Crispy Cajun Fries Recipe (1)

When do you usually eat fries? The first word that comes to my mind is hamburgers. I made smoked hamburgers and these Cajun fries at our last backyard picnic, and they were a huge hit.

My son considers it a big treat when we go out for hamburgers and fries. And I have to admit that Five Guys Cajun fries are tempting. But as much as I enjoy eating out with my family, I love making homemade french fries even more.

  1. Sweet Potato Friesmake a great sub for regular potato fries. And they have a slightly sweeter taste that contrasts well with the Cajun seasoning.
  2. Yams: The true yam (not sweet potatoes) are also delicious. They’re similar in taste and texture to potatoes. Yum!
  3. Carrots: Naturally sweet and delicious, not to mention nutritious, carrots fries are also a great snack alternative.

Tips and Tricks

  1. Pat your potatoes dry with a paper towel and cut them into equally sized strips so they cook evenly.
  2. To help them get crispy, arrange them in an even layer with space between them without piling up on each other.
  3. Toss the fries and the seasonings until the potatoes are evenly coated before sticking them in the oven.

Make-Ahead Instructions

Save time in the kitchen by doing make-ahead actions. Cut as many potatoes as needed and store them completely submerged in cold water in the fridge. You can also make homemade Cajun seasoning for now and in the future. Store it in a glass jar away from light and heat, and it should last 6 months to a year.
